Monolith Arrives on Earth

The planets have aligned. Coming to a planet ripe for advancement and new technology, the IC256-45 Monolith quality assurance ionization chamber is large enough at 45 cm by 45 cm sensing area to cover the largest pencil beam scanning field at isocentre. 256 strips in each axis give a 1.75 mm pitch, with typical beam spot position resolution of 0.2 mm or better.

This new detector saves time and removes uncertainty in the process of calibrating and checking the position of beam spots in a pencil beam scanning particle therapy system. With compatible dose delivery systems it can be linked to the scan control system for automated data collection and analysis.
